For a project to become a reality, finding the right people & place to get behind it is especially crucial and requires a great deal of considerations.

By ensuring that the supplies check off certain boxes, risks of making the wrong choice can be effectively managed.

Below are some of the ‘boxes’ that we have come up with when developing new suppliers for electric scooters/motorcycles.

✅Internal quality control –

When your supplier is overseas, their own quality control measures take on a whole different level of importance.

Because the quality of products being shipped out directly impact customer experiences, with the right procedure in place, headaches can be minimized.

In this case, one supplier shows us ‘quality control card’ assigned to each electric scooter. Not only does it make the issues in production traceable and easier to identify, it also goes to show that the supplier gives thoughts and care into the goods that they deliver in the end.

✅ Location where manufacturers are at –

Is the area of production a hotspot for a given industry?

The density of suppliers from a certain industry in a given area makes it easier to transmit knowledge, which further helps innovation.

Aaand, as words travel fast, a healthy dose of competitiveness between suppliers is beneficial for many things.

✅ Market share –

How much of market share that the supplier has taken up domestically & internationally?

Through looking at the quantity of products being produce per month/year, it is a signal to see how stable their production process is.

With larger number of products being made, it also speaks to how established the manufacturer is in their industry.

That’s for today’s sharing! Just to name a few here 😊

Have you had ‘learned lessons’ from sourcing in the past?

Is there anything you wish you could have picked upon when looking for suppliers?
