What better way to lighten up mood mid-week than…
receiving samples this morning !
In the field of supplier development ,
ordering sample is one of the defining steps that helps customer decide if things could move forward with the supplier.
For small businesses, high sample prices can be a deal-breaker .
That’s why a lot of our time is spent on negotiating the best deal with suppliers in order to get a sample at a desired price. 🤝
In our case of getting shoe’s sample, 3 things have played a huge role in the sample price that we got :
💡Popularity of the customer’s brand
If the supplier has at least heard about the name of customer’s brand, suppliers tend to be more willing to offer sample prices that we’re happy with.
In China it’s not always a given, but it helps, a little.
💡If the supplier is a referral from your existing supplier
A foundation of trust is everything.
By having suppliers whom you have worked with introduce you to another supplier, it’s likely that you’ll get samples for free!
Therefore it’s very helpful and beneficial to build that network of suppliers in this industry.
💡In stock or Out of stock
It’s definitely not gloom and doom when customers haven’t made a name for themselves yet.
When suppliers have an inventory of samples that we’re looking for, sample prices are usually more reasonable.
There’s for sure more to what decides on sample price..
With all that said, in the end it’s always fulfilling knowing that we get to come to an agreement between customers and suppliers.
And things can progress in a way that benefits both parties
